Canada’s largest logging company, Resolute Forest Products, is attempting to revive a $300 million racketeering lawsuit against environmental organizations Stand Earth and Greenpeace. Last year, the lawsuit was determined by a United States District Court judge to be frivolous and strategic. The judge dismissed the lawsuit but granted leave to Resolute to amend its complaint with new facts. Resolute’s attorneys now claim that their amended complaint contains a “mountain” of new information. For the Real News, I speak with Todd Paglia, Executive Director of Stand Earth, about Resolute’s amended complaint. According to Todd, Resolute’s “mountain” of new information is a “molehill” that is designed to do nothing more than perpetuate a frivolous and costly piece of litigation against defenders of the environment.
