This week, a California judge dismissed a $300 million racketeering lawsuit filed against Greenpeace and Stand Earth by a Canadian extractive company, Resolute Forest Products. For the Real News, I discuss the dismissal of this lawsuit with the Executive Director of Stand Earth, Todd Paglia.
As Todd explains, the Court found that Resolute’s lawsuit was a naked attempt to silence criticism of Resolute’s logging practices.
Meanwhile, Resolute Forest Products claims that the dismissal of its complaint is ‘not a significant setback’ for the company. This reminded me of the dismembered Black Knight in Monty Python’s Holy Grail who claimed that he had suffered no more than a ‘flesh wound’.
