On November 7, 2023 in Montreal, CEO Catherine Tait of Canada’s national broadcaster, the CBC, gave a speech on the threats to the CBC’s “independent journalism”.

During her presentation, Yves Engler, John Philpot and I called Ms. Tait out for the CBC’s abject failure to tell the truth about Israel’s brazen genocide in Gaza.

In the first video below, I told Tait that the key to saving the CBC is fearless commitment to truth-telling, and that the CBC has no business calling itself “independent journalism” if it lacks the courage and integrity to report the truth about Israel’s genocide in Gaza.

In the second video below, Yves Engler criticizes Tait for the CBC’s policy of forbidding use of the term “Palestine”.

Unfortunately, we have no video of John Philpot’s intervention because, the moment John started speaking, security guards grabbed his cell phone.

Sorry Dimitri, but you are truly a kettle calling the pot black. You have chosen a side instead of building solidarity between Palestinians and Israelis who both agree to democratic ideals

You’re absolutely right, Peter, I have chosen a side – the side of the oppressed. And I make no apologies for that. You, on the other hand, have an uncanny knack for choosing the wrong side.

This is amazing work thank you for giving the children of Gaza a voice.

Thank you Dimitri and Yves for your courage to speak up among sheep actually I should say the wolves who enable this genocide as they pretend to be respectable people. The majority sit there quietly in their silence enabling mass murder. You are on the right side of history and there can be no neutrality in a situation of oppression to be neutral is to take the side of the oppressor!
