In Human Rights, International, Middle East

This week, after the announcement of a ‘humanitarian pause’ in Gaza, I spoke with Zain Raza of Germany’s AcTVism Munich about the cracks in Israel’s edifice of apartheid.

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu declared from the outset of this war that there would be no pause until Hamas had released all of its hostages. Now, not only has Israel’s government agreed to a four-day truce without freeing all of the hostages held by Hamas, but Israel has also agreed to release far more Palestinian hostages than Hamas has released.

Despite its unbridled brutality, Israel’s government has been forced to make important concessions.
