On May 3, 2024, after conducting months of investigation and hearing from more than 60 witnesses, Canada’s Public Inquiry into Foreign Interference in Federal Electoral Processes and Democratic Institutions issued a report on alleged foreign interference in the 2019 and 2021 Canadian federal elections.

Despite incessant fear-mongering from Canadian corporate media and neocon politicians, Commissioner Marie-Josée Hogue found that the Canadian electoral system is “robust” and that whatever acts of foreign interference took place  “did not undermine the integrity of our electoral system… Our system remains sound.”

While meandering through the central Athens neighbourhood of Exarcheia, which is a hot-bed of anti-fascist resistance in Greece, I ranted about the sordid reality of foreign interference in the domestic politics of Canada.

The evidence shows beyond a shadow of a doubt that no state on God’s green earth interferes more in the domestic affairs of Canada and other Western states than the United States.

Without proportional representation, our electoral system does not have “integrity,” is not “robust” and is not “sound” as Commissioner Marie-Josée Hogue said.

Without proportional representation we do not have a truly representative democracy.

If Parliament is interested in stopping ELECTION INTERFERENCE why did 220 MPs vote against M-86, Feb 7? It could’ve stopped our electoral system INTERFERING with a proportional translation of our votes into seats! https://charterchallenge.ca #charterchallenge #cdnpoli #votingrights
