In Canadian Politics, International, National Security

On June 26, 2023, I spoke with Yves Engler on Canadian Foreign Policy Hour about the relentless but failed efforts of pro-war agitators to derail my national speaking tour on the path to peace in Ukraine.

In the course of describing those efforts, I issued a challenge to my opponents to debate me on the Ukraine war. If they believe sincerely in the correctness of their position, what better way to demonstrate that they are right and I am wrong than to engage me in an open debate? Yet so far, none of them has accepted my challenge.

My discussion with Yves begins at 33:55 of the video below:

Don’t even engage that cowardly Cardy, he has no ethics and will self justify any action. He was weened on the NED ffs! Yes, I think he single-handedly scuttled the NDP in NB. He now probably has his sights set on the top job for the PCs in NB, hahaha. Weasel comes to mind. As does the name Rommel.

    I accept your challenge.
I would like you to agree that we will not be promoting Russian propaganda, just facts and opinions.

Of course cancelling – not allowing free debate – is wrong. I totally understand Dimitr’s frustration and disappointment.

That said the irony is …well this:

In Russia, the government puts opponents in jail. There is now zero (yes zero) freedom to criticize the war.

Dimitri says nothing with prominent anti war activists get out u to prison for decades.

Yea here he is complaining that some opponents to his pro- Putin position have managed to have various rooms deny him access.

He of course is still free to speak as he does, free to post, free access to social media and the press.

Neither Yves Engler nor Demotri say this of course.

Why would they as it would they? They are both intelligent dudes, they fully know how silly they really look when complaining about being cancelled but that their (tiny camp of) followers are just as silly too.

Sunlight is an excellent disinfectant, long mayDimitri Lascaris have the right to speak, he is his own worst enemy.

Are we debating ideologies here Mr Gutnick, or the catalyst that brought on this entire affair? Both parties, the US executive and the Kremlin, have dirty hands. There is no disputing the facts. But circle back to the cause of these hostilities please, and check your biases at the door.

James you keep circulating around, around and around but refuse a simple truth:
Russia attacked and has killed tens of thousands of people.
It is a Russian war against the civilians of a sovereign state. Of course NATO has done all kinds of terrible things, it is a military alliance of western capitalist democracies. But NATO did not start a hot war with Russia. It really is that simple. Did NATO provoke? Of course it did. But that is,to be blunt, irrelevant as NATO countries did not go over Russia’s border and begin killing civilians.

Politics is complex, military alliances are complex, the political and economic relationships between countries are complex.

Russia had many, many options other than killing civilians.

Stop War Stop Putin does not mean one does not strive to change NATO, it does not mean one is blind to American imperialism and its military industrial complex etc.

It means stop Putin from killing Ukrainians in their beds, daycare centres and hospitals.

James your strange distance from blood does not make you sound like the worldly-wise philosopher you so strive to be, rather it makes you sound like a fool as faced with a choice between war and no war you chose to cheer on a war from your comfortable armchair.
